Learning objectives
A newly graduated Bachelor of Biomedical Laboratory Techniques should be able to:
1) manage and check the biological specimens before testing;
2) plan and perform the biomedical analysis using current methods;
3) evaluate and critically check the reliability of the results correlating them to the laboratory quality standards;
4) learn and perform new methods and technologies supporting medical laboratory;
5) manage the safety in working areas and collaborate to health risk evaluation, prevention and protection;
6) navigate by current research tool in the scientific data base to gain new knowledges, thus maintaining continuous update and applying it in the lab;
7) demonstrate professional conduct and apply legal, social, and ethical responsibilities within the health care environment;
8) manage personal, scientific and professional upgrading.
Professional status
Graduates of Biomedical Laboratory Techniques can work in different laboratory as:
1) hospital and extra-hospital divisions of health care national system or in the private health care structures:
2) research and quality assessment laboratory of biomedical/pharmaceutical industries;
3) regional laboratory for environmental prevention and protection services;
4) diagnostic and research laboratory of biomedical industries;
5) University’s or private research laboratories. Degree holders obtain the credentials for National Certification as “Laboratory Technologists” and to join the Italian Association of “Professioni Sanitarie dell’Area tecnico diagnostica”, established by Education Ministry Decree n.745/94.
