Research Activities: | G protein-coupled receptors (GPCRs) represent the largest family of cell surface proteins and the main drug targets currently on the market. GPCRs play an essential role in virtually every physiological process, and their dysfunctions can lead to diseases. The main focus of this Laboratory is to explore the molecular pharmacology and signal transduction of GPCRs, mainly muscarinic and dopamine receptors. Our long-term goal is to contribute to understanding the role that GPCRs play in the physiopathology of neuropsychiatric diseases, such as Parkinson’s disease and schizophrenia. Understanding the molecular mysteries of these proteins will lead to the development of more rational and effective therapeutic solutions. |
