|1) Study of physiological modifications and morphofunctional changes that occur in retinal photoreceptors and pigmented ephitelium during neurodegeneration processes which in most cases cause blindness, as occurs in age-related macular degeneration.
2) Development of an ex vivo retina model to mimic the neurodegenerative processes affecting ganglion cells in the pathology of glaucoma and to test new neuroprotective agents to maintain retinal funtion and in particular the survival of the retinal ganglion cells.
